Spring Fashion Fête

An Evening of AAPI Fashion, Shopping and Fun, Presented by the Asian American Chamber of Commerce and Yas Media.

Thursday, May 19, 2022 5:30 pm

Thank you for joining us last week to celebrate talented AAPI designers and shop owners through Spring Fashion Fête, which took place at DC’s Hotel Zena, a Viceroy Urban Retreat.

Through the Spring Fashion Fête, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce Foundation was able to raise funds for access to educational programs for students in the AAPI community. Nearly 100 attendees joined throughout the evening. Attendees perused the Pop-Up, where seven AAPI vendors including A.Oei Studio, Kicheko Goods, Capital Blossom Day Spa and Chang Shew Bird’s Nest Beverage displayed their one-of-a-kind items for sale to the public. Later, Mrs. District of Columbia American 2022 Gift Hughes welcomed attendees to the Fashion Show. Remarks were also made by Mrs. Maryland American, Megan Myers, Shirley Luu, Award-Winning Financial Advisor, Cindy Shao, Director of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce and Yasmin Paraskevas, Founder of Yas Media, Communications and Events.

The Fashion Show began with the upbeat sounds of Deejay Theo, while models wore satin tracksuits and boldly printed slinky dresses by Fangyan Stores, mockneck mini dresses in batik and luxurious silk creations by Batax Bule and finally, the eyecatching ikat printed robes and vibrant bomber jackets of Yul d’Uz

Closing remarks were made by Mrs. District of Columbia American Gift Hughes, gifts were presented to participants by sponsor Chang Shew and Miss District of Columbia for America Strong, Bizmah Ahmed thanked attendees and acknowledged participants and supporters. The reception included passed hors d’oeuvres and an opportunity for guests to meet AAPI designers, creators and event patrons.
